But this something that it comes naturally and I can't really avoid it.
My favourite plants are succulents and cacti because the are resilient and adaptable. I used to go to Kew Gardens when my son was little and spent a good amount of time in the Cacti enclosure. It reminded me of the warmth of my country and makes me feel at home. Another inspirational garden is Columbia Road Flower Market, this is where I bought my First succulent when I move to London in 2003 .

Now I found other wonderful place to enjoy plants like Borrowed Light Floral Studio in Walthamstow. I go there to buy plants and to enjoy the soft and lifely environment, the fresh smell of plants makes me feel happy and relaxed. I've been living in Walthamstow for 11 years and I have been active part of its artistic and creative community so producing this documentary was not totally extrange for me.

We united on this project idea to high-light the way the local community has developed, as well as to show how the arts and creativity have been a powerful catalyst for the growth and regeneration in the area. We believe the E17 Art Trail and the artists who have taken part in it over the years, have contributed enormously to what Walthamstow has become today and we wanted to document and share the story of this journey. As passionate and creative people, we jumped at the opportunity to create a video documentary and a book about the borough’s journey, even before fully securing the usual initial funding. Our commitment, skill and wealth of experience have carried us this far and for the project to reach completion, we sent a ‘call out’ to all the artists who took part in the first ever E17 Art Trail and 10 came back to us.

Our plans for the future and love of working with artists and makers, inspired us to create E17 Room, a project which aims to provide an ‘open door’ space for the community. “Artists around the corner: E17 Art Trail 2005 Wonders” is a first such project, with many more to come.

The video/interview will be shown at:

Lot One Ten
78 Hoe St, Walthamstow, London E17 4PG.
Will show the following artists:

Paul Tucker + Sharon Drew + Valerie Grove + Pirasteh Gourang

Penny Fielding + Brigid Collins

Wood Street Coffee
1-2 Sutherland Rd. What I found more interesting when I teach is helping my students to discover what they are capable of. I start with simple exercises that sometimes challenged students patience because they think "that is very easy" and then is not as easy as they thought.

I have a small group and I know everyone by their name and what they do, I think part of teaching is also learning the person you are teaching too. Is extremely exciting when they see what are they capable of and the proud on their faces when I hold their finished pieces in their hands. I measure the success of my class by the happiness of my students and their own progress. Working with clay like any other creative activity requires practice and perseverance but the most important thing is that the student enjoy doing it.

They get to experience clay a very plastic and surprising material used for centuries to create utilitarian and artistic work. They learn their own limits and challenge them, they learned how to become more patient and follow a process. Students have the opportunity of socializing and meet new people that share similar interests. They learn new skills and work with their hands which are proven to release stress and work like a yoga for the brain. Clay challenge your sense of strength and refine your hand motor skills.

The lessons are host in Blackhorse Workshop which is a very inspiring place full of creative people who happens to be very cool people ;). There is also the fabulous Wood Street Coffee if you get hungry or want to try a seriously good coffee.
If you join my class! I will guide you if you are completely new and proposed work that will help you to progress in your learning process. If you have done ceramics before and have a clear idea of what you want to do then we can discuss it and I will assist you with your project. I do the firing and glazing in my studio and if you are a practitioner and need firing service I can do it too, £4 a pound of weight or £40 full kiln.
