A Documentary and a Book about the first E17 Art Trail.
The idea of this project came around October 2018, after going to the first meeting of the E17 Art Trail, were seeds of the artists projects ideas are planted. Laura Martinez da Silva my partner for this project, is a photographer and filmmaker and I am an artist with extensive experience in administration and projects organization. I've been living in Walthamstow for 11 years and I have been active part of its artistic and creative community so producing this documentary was not totally extrange for me. We united on this project idea to high-light the way the local community has developed, as well as to show how the arts and creativity have been a powerful catalyst for the growth and regeneration in the area. We believe the E17 Art Trail and the artists who have taken part in it over the years, have contributed enormously to what Walthamstow has become today and we wanted to document and share the story of this journey. As passionate and creative people, we jumped at the opportunity to create a video documentary and a book about the borough’s journey, even before fully securing the usual initial funding. Our commitment, skill and wealth of experience have carried us this far and for the project to reach completion, we sent a ‘call out’ to all the artists who took part in the first ever E17 Art Trail and 10 came back to us. Our plans for the future and love of working with artists and makers, inspired us to create E17 Room, a project which aims to provide an ‘open door’ space for the community. “Artists around the corner: E17 Art Trail 2005 Wonders” is a first such project, with many more to come. Hello! I was in the first art trail, and sent you some pictures and video to help with the film. I am thinking about going to the event at Gnome House tonight to see the abridged version, I have not had the chance to see the film yet. Am I in the abridged version please? If not, when can I have a chance to see the film? Many thanks, Ruth Calland
